This week we’re sharing photos of our visit to the Fulton Market District with fellow members of the Association of Licensed Architects.

The walking tour, led by Will Quam of Brick of Chicago, provided a historical overview of the neighborhood and its industrial beginnings.  He contrasted those beginnings with the current trend towards office and retail uses.  Will showed us how new developments paid homage to the old through the continued use of brick, but with a spin of modern materials and construction methods.

By the end of our walk, we were able to see how the built environment has transformed to serve the growing community.
